Dr. Caroline de Meyer is a geologist by training. Combined with her background in geochemistry, she focuses her research on drinking water resources. In the past years, she investigated natural contamination of groundwater resources in the Amazon Basin, a region of Latin-America that has not been comprehensively addressed. This work was done in collaboration with researchers from Perú, Brazil, and most recently Bolivia. She is a collaborator in the Soil science Group at the University of Bern, Switzerland, and is leading a project on geogenic contamination in the Bolivian Amazon.
